Wednesday 14th April - Day 19 : bend, straighten, bend, straighten

Hit my shoulders at the gym today.  Saying it was hard work is a huge understatement.  I had several dizzy spells but at least my leg didn't hurt!  Tomorrow, it's chest day.

The leg is healing well.  First thing in the morning when the swelling is to a minimum I am almost able to bend to 90 degrees.  See!

The new brace is good but sleeping in it is still tricky.  I'm due back at the Occupational Therapy Splint Workshop again tomorrow so I will let them know about the painful areas.  It will also need refitting because my muscles have atrophied even more!!  It will be stick thin at the end of the 2 months.

  1. the doctor told me that i don't need the brace! i only use it if my leg realy needs some rest. i know what you mean about the muscels, it's amazing how fast they go away. i'm working hard on getting some muscles back...
i'll probably go swimming next week, are you also alowed to go swimming? i recon it's the best sport for the moment...

how's life with a broken leg treating you? are there things you cannot do(ecsept walking on your leg ofcourse..) ?
    cheers

  2. So you have no brace at all? Can you bend your knee? I haven't been told I can go swimming but as I can't put any weight on the leg I might wait. Using crutches at the swimming pool is just asking for trouble!

Life is going ok, it gets boring from time to time but I'm staying positive!

  3. i can bend my knee(but ofcourse i'm still not alowed to walk on it...), but i'm still at 85 degrees, hope to get to 90 and more soon.
i have the same worries with the swimmingpool/crutches combinations, but my aunt is going to "drive" me with my weelchair to the water edge, and then with the ladder i think it is possible...
i know what you mean about life getting boring from time to time, luckly i have an exam today, so i was quite well occupied, next week will probably be boring...
stay positive, and have a greate weekend,
